SOUTHERN ELEGANCE

$595.00

This piece was born out of the beautiful southern magnolias we see here in South Carolina and the obsession of metal gold leaf I’ve had lately. I’m seeing beauty with imperfection (Wabi-Sabi) in which my new series has begun.

This piece appears to be a decorative, contemporary floral painting centered around a large white magnolia blossom.

The composition features a fully opened magnolia flower with creamy white petals and a detailed, textured center. Surrounding it are rich green leaves and a few unopened buds, adding depth and balance. The background is structured with geometric elements—most notably a cross-like band of metallic gold that intersects behind a muted, square panel in a soft lavender-gray tone.

The gold elements have a textured, almost gilded or leafed appearance, and the dripping gold details at the bottom introduce a modern, slightly abstract contrast to the otherwise realistic botanical rendering. The blending of realism (in the flower and leaves) with metallic accents and geometric structure gives the piece a refined, elegant, and slightly contemporary decorative feel.

Overall mood: serene, graceful, and sophisticated—with a subtle balance between classical botanical art and modern mixed-media aesthetics.
